Do you have quilter’s block? Are you finding it hard to put aside time to sew?

Well, get your fabrics together because the Fernie Quilters Guild is hosting a weekend of quilting at the Arts Station March 14 to 16. Open to members of the Guild and to the public, the weekend offers quilters a space and time to work on their own projects.

“Quilt ’til you Wilt is a weekend for anybody who wants to find out what quilting is about or would like to bring a project and work on it that weekend,” explains four-year quilter Donna Miller. “And we’re trying to open it up to all quilters - anybody who wants to come that doesn’t belong to the Quilt Guild.”

Quilt until you wilt

If you’re a beginner, Quilt ‘Til You Wilt is also a wonderful opportunity to find out what quilting is all about and to find out what the Fernie Quilters Guild has to offer. Aside from hosting regular quilting weekends, the Guild meets twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesdays. Instructional meetings take place on the fourth Tuesday of the month.

“It’s an instructional evening where someone in the Guild passes on some of their knowledge to the rest of us,” Miller says. “There are quite a few experienced quilters who love to teach. There’re a couple who are founding members from before the Arts Station was there.”
