Discover the joy of making pottery on the wheel. From mugs to simple bowls the items will be trimmed and finished then glazed and fired in a kiln for a useful finished article. Anything is possible. This class is for beginners and those with limited experience. Limited to 4 people, this becomes almost individual instruction.

Build your knowledge and the potters secrets from a full-time potter. Take your wheel skills to a new level… The class will focus on learning how to make jars, lids and spouts. Eventually, putting all these parts together to make a teapot! Also wheel made forms will be altered to create exciting art forms.

Working with a choice of a full or eight pane 20”x33”antique window (supplied), the workshop will teach how to prep the old window and learn to apply pressed flowers in a ‘flower garden’ design. The finished piece will adorn a house beautifully. Small groups enables almost individual attention by the instructor.

AcrylicDelve more deeply into developing a painting in simple, easy steps. The course will include discussion on how to work with paints to catch the beauty in painting: mountains; cliffs; rocks; water; and rapids. Start with simple materials and finish with a work of art! Students will learn how to tone a painting surface, blocking in a painting and then going back in to complete the details. Learning how to achieve a fair amount of realism by building on basic skills. Bring your own paint & supplies (listing given on registration).

Encaustic Workshop

Wax A technique developed many thousands of years ago, create an art work that uses coloured waxes that are ‘burnt-in’ with the use of heat and solvent. Starting with the simplest marks that a heated iron makes with the molten waxes it will be worked onto the sealed painting card surface. These basic effects are complied into abstracts, landscapes and fantasy scenes. Gaining skills, other low-heat tools and equipment allows further exploration and a huge variety of potentials for encaustic art work. This medium gives instant gratification … your can complete a masterpiece in a matter of minutes. No previous artistic experience is necessary to partake in this workshop. Fun is the word!!!
