taiwan_lantern_festival_2006_01Art on Fire — Fernie’s Winter Light Festival
Saturday, November 20 from 6 - 9 pm.
Assemble at The Arts Station for an illuminating evening!

Fernie is to be illuminated as never before as Downtown is to be decorated with the beauty of shadows and light! The inaugural ‘Art on Fire Festival’ will be a celebration of light in the dark as the seasons change. Festival goers will be able to create their own lantern that they can then use to decorate Fernie with the amazing shadows designed by the interplay of paper and fire. There will also be stunning handcrafted lanterns ranging from the very big to the very small. As well, there is to be stilt-walkers, musical performances, food, fireworks and so much more! Art on Fire is also honouring Diwali with those around the world. Diwali is known as the Festival of Lights and is an important five-day festival in Hinduism, Sikhism, and Jainism. Diwali translates into “row of lamps” and is a celebration of the triumph of good over evil. Snaking their way through town the lanterns, fire, music and people will meet – joining together to create beauty, fun, and celebration in the night!
