If you have skills of working with artists, experience with hanging shows and coordinating arts events, we would like to hear from you. Masterclass Writing
Tuesday, January 8 to March 25, Weekly, 7 – 9pm. (12wks)
The Fernie Writers Conference offers a three-month ‘team taught’ writers workshop with Angie Abdou (local author—Anything Girls Can Do and the Bone Cage), Keith Liggett (Director, Fernie Writers Conference) and Carolyn Nikodym (former Managing Editor of the Edmonton VueWeekly). The focus will be on developing and refining new work without genre bias—poetry, fiction, memoir, and non-fiction are all welcome. Limited to 10.

Altered Books
Jan 17- Feb 21, 7-9pm
Fun! Fun! Fun! Give yourself a creative jump, break some rules & breathe life into an old hardcover book by building up a new one! Play with Japanese paper collage, cutouts, painting, lino prints, popup structures & photograms, while sharing the power of a group. Warmup movements and activities begin each class. Emphasis on process. All levels welcome.

Come Young, Come All…

Wow your kid this fall!
With Creative Classes that will spark their creativity.

This fall the Arts Station introduces a host of programs for young artists. (And adults, too) Puppet making, writing and book making, pottery, painting and music. The Arts Station is the center for your fall project.

Mixed Media Classes. Mix it up, learn & have fun… Paint, clay, and lots more. And discover exciting results. Monday thru’ Friday & Saturday too!

Young Authors. Tell your story and make your own book. Saturdays.

Art Fridays. On every “Off� Friday, the Arts Station gathers artists, dance instructors and musicians to provide a special half-day off for the kids. Space is limited so book-in now.

And for the holidays. Work in clay to make Halloween Masks to scare the best and Christmas Ornaments just in time for decorating for your tree.

Not just for Kids, Family Gallery on the last Saturday of the month, drop-by and take a tour of the current exhibit, then delve into a related art project.

Adult Pottery Workshops on Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings.

Drumming Circles (young and old) make the beat together.

With Special Pre-Conference Workshops

The Fernie Writers Conference brings award-winning established writers to work with writers
of all levels in an intensive workshop setting. By encouraging positive critique
of work–both in-progress and new–writers sharpen and refine their craft over the course of the Conference.

While centered around the workshops, the featured panel discussions, evening presentations
and social events surrounding the conference create lasting and fruitful relationships.
Editors, publishers and writers mingle over meals, in the receptions and during the public readings.
