Art, Summer for Me!

The Arts Station has a most spectacular art extravaganza planned that is sure to be an amazingly fun and messy day for children ages 5 to 10! With this special day being led by three amazing facilitators – Lesley Graham, Jodie Parker and Michelle Senior – art adventures are sure to satisfy!
Kids will have a blast and get dirty participating in colourful activities focused on their amazing summer memories! The kids will spend the day in a series of activities that focus on creativity and learning. Mediums to include clay, felt, found objects, and paint amongst others. The children also get the opportunity to experience the unique learning spaces (gallery, clay and painting studios, theatre, and verandah) that The Arts Station is home to by not only having special visits to them but also creating art in them!
The little artists will be creating art and taking home reminders of their awesome summer adventures! So whether they went camping, hiking, biking, visiting or swimming the kids are sure to have a fantastic art-filled day!

Sewing for Babies and Toddlers
Sunday / June 5 / Noon to 4pm
Cost: $40.00 plus materials or $60 including materials (purchased from the instructor)
A class for people with basic skills of sewing. Level of difficulty is Easy so this class is appropriate for those just starting out sewing and want to learn how to make adjustable clothing for babies and toddlers. Choose from a little dress that converts to a skirt as the child grows or a pair of pants that are reversible and have an adjustable waist. Supply list available upon registration. Sewing a Shoulder Bag Workshop
Sunday / May 29 / Noon to 4pm
Cost: $40.00 plus materials
Join Athena Knibbs as she walks you through how to sew your own handbag. This class level is appropriate for those just starting out with sewing or those who already have their skills but just want to be around other sewers! Participants can make a larger shoulder bag or a smaller purse. If time allows, Athena will include a surprise project (materials included for the surprise). This outdoor painting session is sure to inspire with all Fernie has to offer! Topics to include subject matter, colours, locations and styles. This workshop is suited for all levels and mediums. Registration for this class is through The College of the Rockies. 250-423-4691.
Wood Block Workshop
Friday / 7-9pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm

Cost: $125 Open Registration or $100 Arts Station Members
Michael Hepher will lead a wood block workshop using the Salmonberry Press Chandler and Price Letterpress. The workshop will cover initial design, carving of the block and printing a one or two-colour wood block print. All materials and a basic set of wood block carving tools are included in the cost of the workshop. Class is limited to 10 people. $40 deposit required to secure a spot. Realistic Animals with John deJong

Learn how to create and paint realistic animals in this weekend workshop that is appropriate for all skill levels and interests. Come and enjoy a weekend where you will gain new skills or develop existing ones in this low-pressure class that focuses on achieving the goal of creating a realistic animal of your choice.
