Lindsay Dew holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design Unviersity, majoring in Fine Arts. Lindsay also attended Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, France. Her artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
Lindsay Dew’s focus and inspiration comes from British Columbia’s mountain ranges. Her artwork aims to capture the emotional memory of a place rather than document it. Lindsay’s artwork comment on our connection to land and our personal relationship to our surroundings. Lindsay grew up in a variety of landscapes in and outside of Canada, yet was always drawn to the landscape of her roots, British Columbia’s mountains. She was continually fascinated by the long history of countries she visited yet, born in Canada, a relatively young country, it became clear to Lindsay that our deep rooted Canadian history is recorded and celebrated in our natural environment. Lindsay views mountain ranges as holding and recording history of the land. In addition, seasonal transitions reflect environmental changes which can be dramatically witnessed in our mountain ranges.
In “Out of Range”, Lindsay not only highlights and celebrates British Columbia’s majestic mountain ranges but unites them under one roof at the Arts Station.
