Call for Entry International Women’s Day Exhibit
Theme: Iconic Women: IWD Portraits
Artists of all backgrounds are invited to submit their work for an International Women’s Day exhibit; Icon Women. We invite artists to celebrate the strength of women through the IWD Portraits campaign. This ongoing initiative shines a light on artists who advocate for gender equality and use their creativity to honour and inspire. Artwork will be displayed in an exhibit at The Arts Station: Gallery opening March 7th, as a kick off to a weekend of Celebrating International Womens Day on March 8th and will remain on display for the remainder of March.
Terms & conditions:
- Submit artwork that captures the essence of a woman who inspires you. This could be:
- A well-known icon who has shaped history or culture.
- An everyday hero who has impacted your life personally.
- Someone whose strength, resilience, or spirit deserves to be celebrated.
- All artistic mediums are welcomed and encouraged: painting, fibre, sculpture, digital, photography, ceramics, etc.
- Entries should reflect the theme of celebrating women’s strength, resilience, and contributions.
- Please consider the subject and their approval to be featured in your artwork. Photo submissions will require the permission of the subject.
- All pieces should consider the issues around cultural appropriation if using the cultural forms, aesthetics or iconography of cultural communities removed from their social, political and cultural roots.
- Max size: 16″ x 20″
- Pieces should be Gallery ready e.g. ready to hang with wire, framed if required.
- Pieces can be for sale. If they are sold the Arts Station will take a 30% commission on the work. PLease indicate if you do not wish for the piece to be for sale.

- Submission Deadline: Feb 14th, 2025
- Artwork delivery: February 28th, 2025
- Exhibition Date: Opening March 7th
- Location: The Arts Station Gallery
- Works will be featured in our International Women’s Day exhibit and shared as part of the IWD Portraits global campaign.
To Enter:
- Artist details including bio.
- Artwork name & statement (max 250 words) explaining why you choose this women to create a portrait of.
- If for sale a price (please factor in 30% commission rate)
- Medium and size of artwork
- Installation requirements
- An image of your artwork is required.
