Deadline: December 15, 2020
Project Description and Intent:
The Fernie and District Arts Council is looking for artists to participate in a temporary public arts festival called Moose on the Loose. The Moose on the Loose Festival will be the presentation of basin artists’ work to the Fernie community through multiple events starting February 2021 until June 2021. FDAC is looking for artists to create a piece of temporary public art based on the “Moose on the Loose” theme. These pieces will be presented around the community both inside and outside.
This project is intended to generate and continue interest and awareness of public art in various Fernie locations. It will support fresh, engaging, and innovative proposals from artists working in a range of disciplines and media. Tourists will be able to follow this physically distanced activity to discover new areas and businesses in Fernie. Each month, a different piece will be presented at a different location, and will then remain in place.
Artists will receive a fee for their piece, $1800. FDAC encourages artists to think outside the box and be creative with their proposals. Pieces must be designed to be able to survive the Fernie elements for several weeks. They must also be designed to be freestanding.
