Pottery Contract Positions

Temporary Pottery Technician/s

The Fernie & District Arts Council is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team on a contract basis to assist with making glazes for the pottery studio and/or assist with kiln management.


  • Basic knowledge of pottery studio operation.

  • Either experience and training in creation of glazes and/or

  • Experience with kiln loading/unloading.

  • Follow health and safety procedures including WHIMS training.

  • Strong communication – verbal, written, listening & computer literacy.

  • Works independently, excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Organized, ability to track and follow up on action items.


  • Works with FDAC and FPG to review glaze needs and liaises with Pottery admin for inventory, ordering and creations.

  • Creates the required glazes and/or

  • Loads/unloads the kiln
  • Update Facebook page with firing schedule, general reminders, etc.
  • Reports directly to the Executive Director of FDAC.

  • Fill out a daily activity log and provide biweekly email updates to FDAC and FPG.

Contract part-time: 3 month contract Feb-April 2021 2 hours per week or as needed dependent on role.

Compensation: $20 per hour

The employee will be responsible for payment of tax and government remittances as required by law.
