The Moose on the Loose Festival is a temporary public arts festival in which artists present a moose-themed installation in various Fernie locations. The festival spans 5 months, with a new moose reveal each month. Moose artwork is created from different materials based on the artists’ preferred medium or in collaboration with other artists.
Each month, members of the Fernie community create their own moose-themed art pieces that are complementary to the larger installation. Fernie locals and visitors are encouraged to explore each location and try to find the moose on the loose! Bingo cards and scavenger hunts are supplied each month via our website to help participants find the art.
The festival is self-paced and self-guided, and encourages Fernie locals and visitors to explore new areas of their community while maintaining physical distance and staying safe.
We work with various community partners to bring this project to life, and we hope it inspires people to explore some new areas in Fernie!
